The Isuzu 6VD1

The Isuzu 6VD1 was used for several years, in different configurations:

From 1992 through 1995.5 it was offered in SOHC configuration with 175 HP. This engine was offered in the Trooper from 1992 through 1995.5 and in the Rodeo from 1994-1995.5

From 1992 through 1994 it was offered in DOHC configuration with 190 HP. This engine was offered in the Trooper only, and only on higher trims levels on in the RS.

From 1995 through 1997 it was offered in DOHC configuration with 190HP. This engine became the only 3.2 V6 offered in these years, and was offered in the Rodeo and Trooper.

From 1997 through 1999 it was fitted to the Japanese Domestic Market Vehicross yielding 215HP and the 3.5 Litre version was fitted to the US Vehicross from 1999-2003 still only yielding 215HP

From 1998 through 2003 it was offered in the Rodeo/Amigo/Rodeo Sport with XXX HP and had a significantly different implementation than the earlier 6VD1. The heads and crank were changed among other parts.

This engine was very similar to the 3.5L 6VE1 and even shared many components such as heads and accessories. Swapping a 6VE1 block in place of a 6VD1 block yields a Rodeo/Rodeo Sport/Amigo with a 3.5L engine. The 3.2L ECU can control this engine without changes.
