1. Assemble the needed materials and tools. MAF spray cleaner was ~$6 at the local autoparts store. Also need some screwdrivers, two regular and a phillips, and a 12mm wrench.

2. MAF is dead center in pic, between air hose running to throttle body and the air cleaner. Loosen the two hose clamps that are clamping the MAF. Remove the air hose between the MAF and throttle body. Generally only need to loosen the hose and turn it out of the way. Remove the air intake hose that runs to the air pump. Finally, unleash the three clips and remove the top of the air cleaner.

3. Turn the air cleaner cover over and remove the two mounting bolts (bolt heads require 12mm wrench).

4. Carefully remove the wire clip that keeps the electrical connector latched to the MAF. It can be springy and will shoot across the garage and disappear if you're not careful.

5. Use the MAF cleaner spray to remove any gunk or buildup from the little sensors in the MAF unit. NOTE: DO NOT TOUCH THOSE LITTLE MAF SENSORS !!! They are very fragile and a replacement will cost you a buttload of hard earned cash. Only use the spray, not a q-tip, not toothpick, nothing -don't touch it at all. Just the spray.

6. Also use the spray cleaner to clean the mesh section in the air cleaner cover. Make sure the spray is going in the same direction as normal air flow would be -from inside the air cleaner cover -out through the MAF. Be sure to do this with the MAF removed from the air cleaner cover.

7. Put it all back together like this and take it for a test drive. Enjoy :)
